Articles
Finding Articles
To locate magazine, journal, and newspaper articles on a particular topic, start by searching an index. Indexes can be on general subjects or a specific field. The SRC subscribes to the Hospitality & Tourism Index (available campus wide). Hamilton Library subscribes to many print and electronic indexes. Not all the titles indexed will be available at the SRC or in UH Manoa libraries. Those titles you cannot obtain on campus can be requested through interlibrary loan (ILL).
Online Databases
The Hamilton Library maintains a list of online databases for Travel Industry Management. A complete list of databases for Business/Humanities/Social Sciences are also available.
Print Indexes
The SRC does not hold any print indexes.
Finding Articles in SRC
Though some of our research databases contain full-text articles, many do not. In fact, some of our databases do not indicate whether or not NSU owns a particular periodical (magazine, journal, or newspaper), and none of the print indexes indicate this information. However, all of the periodicals owned by the SRC will be listed in UH Voayger by Fall 2004 . If you have found citations in a print or online index, check the catalog and do a title search to see if the SRC or Hamilton Library has the periodical you need. The catalog lists only the titles of the periodicals we own (Journal of Sustainable Tourism, the Economist, etc.); it won't tell you about individual articles in periodicals.
Journals
The SRC subscribes to over 70 trade and scholarly publications in the travel industry. Periodicals (journals, magazines and newpapers) can be found by searching library catalogs using the title of the publications. SRC holdings are searchable in the Mandarin OPAC. Current subscriptions will be searchable in UH Voyager beginning with the Fall 2004 semester.
Many of the SRC's holdings are available electronically through the Sunset Electronic Journal Service (EJS).
Grad Theses and Papers
Copies of graduate theses and papers are available at the SRC. These items are also cataloged in the Mandarin OPAC. A searchable index of papers with abstracts will be available soon.
