What is the TIM-Asian-Academy LISTSERV©?
The TIM-Asian-Academy Listserv is an electronic bulletin board connecting the international tourism research and education community. Its purpose is to facilitate interaction between members on a range of issues related to tourism, heritage management and sustainable development.

The Asian Academy for Heritage Management is a network of institutions throughout Asia and the Pacific offering professional training in the field of heritage management under the guidance of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), and the International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property (ICCROM).  The TIM School is excited for the new networks that will emerge in connecting others schools and organizations through this electronic service. 

This is not a commercial network and hence no commercials are allowed; announcements which promote communication, research, education and scholarship, such as conference announcements, new book titles, and academic positions, fit the spirit and mission of the TIM-Asian-Academy Listserv.

How do I join the TIM-Asian-Academy Listserv?
The TIM-Asian Academy Listserv is a closed bulletin board, requiring that each potential subscriber send an email message to TIM-Asian-Academy-REQUEST@hawaii.edu requesting admission to the board. You will then receive a message asking you to provide contact details and a short synopsis of research interests and major research contributions. Once subscribed to TIM-Asian-Academy, members can post messages to the board on relevant topics. Your email address and personal information will not be passed on to anyone else.

Is there a charge to join TIM-Asian-Academy?
No - this is a free service provided by the School of Travel Industry Management at the University of Hawaii, Honolulu, Hawaii, USA

Who else is on the TIM-Asian-Academy Listserv?
The listserv is starting with over 25 members, in over 10 countries around the world.  The expectation is to expand into more countries as the listserv grows. 

How much traffic on my email does the TIM-Asian-Academy Listserv generate?
Once you are subscribed to the TIM-Asian-Academy listserv, all messages drop into your email box. The message volume will vary.

Can students join the TIM-Asian-Academy Listserv?
Due to the size limitations of the bulletin board software, we can only accept applications from students at the PhD level.

What are valid messages to post to the TIM-Asian-Academy Listserv?
Valid messages are those that would be of interest to at least part of the membership. These include but are not limited to the following:

• Commentary and discussion on issues and topics in tourism, heritage management, research and education
• Requests for information on tourism research topics (please avoid “Tell me everything you know about heritage management” type requests). Be specific and selective.
• Announcements of conferences and events
• Announcements of new books, journals etc.
• Tables of Contents of Tourism / Heritage Management Journals
• Announcements of new jobs and positions in the field

What other benefits do I get from being a member of the TIM-Asian-Academy Listserv?
Many subscribers find that most of the benefit of the TIM-Asian-Academy Listserv comes after a request has been posted and the individual responses, contacts and communications that follow (under the board).

What do I do if I used to be on the TIM-Asian-Academy Listserv and I am not getting messages anymore?
Since the TIM-Asian-Academy Listserv uses your email address to deliver the messages to you, if your email address changes the message will no longer be delivered. This could be a very slight change in the email address, or a change in the server at your institution. So whenever your email address changes, please contact us at TIM-Asian-Academy-L-REQUEST@hawaii.edu  with your new email address and we will re-subscribe you.
