Veteran restaurant and food service industry executive, John H. Bing, Jr., has established The John H. Bing, Jr. Endowed Scholarship. The purpose of the scholarship is to assist undergraduate students who are pursuing a degree or certificate in any area of study at the School of Travel Industry Management. To qualify, applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0.
After his graduation in 1966 from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa’s Travel Industry Management program, Bing managed fine dining, theme and ethnic restaurants, fast food, corporate food service, movie studio commissaries, retail restaurants and gourmet food markets. He retired in 2007 after 39 years in the restaurant and food service industry.
“My memories of Hawai‘i and UH are as clear as if they were yesterday. Those four years were among the best of my life. In remembrance of that time and the education I received which enabled me to enjoy a long career, I am endowing scholarships in Shidler College of Business and Travel Industry Management so that others may benefit from the excellence of UH.”
The School of Travel Industry Management thanks Mr. John H. Bing, Jr. for his generosity and support.
